Brenden Canning - You Gots 2 Chill

Release Date - October 1, 2013

Record Label - Draper St.

I wasnt too surprised when CoSs list of the top 20 solo albums by rock n roll artists included Feists The Reminder over the handful of records which have come out of the Canadian super-group-collective Broken Social Scene. Imagine the uproar if they had left Feist off the list!  Hating on Feist is sure to be some kind of crime north of the border, even if the actual crime is committed in the USA. The gutsier call, in my mind, would have been either of the solo releases by Brendan Canning the proverbial guy-behind-the-guy of BSS and whose 2013 solo release, You Gots 2 Chill is easily the most overlooked and critically unappreciated records of 2013. You Gots 2 Chill sounds abounds with slow-burning acoustic tracks that came from messages that Canning sent to himself on his answering machine.

In many ways, You Gots 2 Chill, is an album whose contents directly reflect the title. Opener "Post-Fahey" cascades acoustic riff atop acoustic riff. Cannings musical touch is as subtle as it is enticing. Cannings strategy seems to be to draw every musical moment out of a particular pattern as on "Lightfoot," when the gentle slide of a slide guitar and tinkling of percussion accent and harmonize with the gentle pluck of his acoustic guitar. Far from being simplistic, Cannings songs expose the complexity of each riff. The "chill" comes from the laid back tempo of the tunes as well as the way in which Canning utilizes harmony and melody to create the gentle layers of his tracks. On "Heading There," the vocals seem to split and diverge surrounding the bluesy riff. Daniela Gesundheit of Snowblink takes the vocal reins on "Bullied Days," the single of the record, and one of the best stand-alone tracks. Here, Gesundheits vocals swim around a dreamscaped composition.

Throughout the album, Canning intersperses those voice mails he left to himself as "Long Live Land Lines" and "Once A Lighthouse" provide an atomic understanding of what his songs transform into. On You Gots 2 Chill, the result isnt only a track, but an entire universe of songs each marked and painstakingly placed. "Bullied Days," for example, ends directly into "New Zealand Tap Dancing Finals," juxtaposing the languid vocals with a staccato finger-picked line and electronic percussion.  Even these answering machine tracks, like "Once A Lighthouse," are folded into the mix as the grimy recording of Cannings answering machine riff is followed by "Lightfoot," the track which uses this same riff.

The repetitive lines twisting and varying minutely make this record a cousin to Do Make Say Thinks You, Youre a History in Rust. Ohad Benchetrit, from DMST, recorded the album and you can feel the imprint of the venerable Canadian instrumental outfit on Cannings recording. Theres an undeniable eccentricity to Cannings music thats highlighted by the production. From the squeaks on "However Long" to the slow, spacey harmony of "Late Night Stars," Cannings riffs provide the foundation for these tracks while the progression of the track is accomplished through experimentation, addition,  and subtraction. Benchetrit and Cannings friend Steve Singh recorded the album, and though the description of Cannings process may sound stitched together, the record sounds like an entire composition more than a collection of tracks. The subtle intermixture of electronics and acoustics and the way that the album builds, creating songs through experimentation rather than structures using rhythms, repetition and revision.

For this reason, You Gots 2 Chill has received, by in large, its (pardon the pun) chilly reception. To draw a comparison between Cannings work here and with BSS is inadvisable. As Canning put it, "theyre my tunes." As such, theres a refreshing personal ownership that you can feel in the tracks. Even the titles like "Makes you Motor" and "Never Go to the Races" sound like inside jokes from Canning to Canning. And, its this personality which makes the record a rewarding listen. In some ways, you have to listen to this record as if pulling Canning out of BSS not trying to compare him to the group, like when you actually get that chance to hang out one on one with someone that you only know as a part of a group and it turns out that they may not be as like your mutual friends as you once thought. But, make no mistake, this is not a coming out party for Canning or some sort of debut for someone whos already firmly established himself as a core member of one of the most influential bands of the past 15 years. Rather, You Gots 2 Chill reveals itself as that rarest of all solo records, one which actually seems to reveal the person rather than their ambitions.

CRB Tech reviews is going to focus on some sick time foods, in this blog.

Even if you are sick due to any disease, it does not stop you from not feeling hungry. May be the hunger will die down a bit, but it is there for sure. At such times, can you indulge into any type of food?

Well, the answer is no! One should be aware as to what to eat during sickness. E.g. best foods to eat when you have a cold or what to eat when sick and throwing up etc.

Here is a list of foods that one needs to avoid when sick.

Guess what?

They might prove to be more harmful to you. Thats the reason why.

While zesty food items may be the foods to eat when sick with cold and flu , they can likewise be harsh on the stomach. Same goes for citrus kind of fruits—it might be useful for cold like indications, yet fruits like grapefruit, oranges, and lemons can likewise bother your stomach lining and cause more agony and distress. Avoid both in case youre encountering a stomach upset. So then, the question is, what foods to eat when sick with stomach virus? We will see them some other time. Just remember that the above mentioned are a strict no no.

The jurys still out on this one, however many individuals trust that devouring in dairy can advance body fluid generation in the form of mucus etc, which could compound congestion when you are sick. Nonetheless, present time research demonstrates this may really be because of a misleading impact. In any case, paying little mind to regardless of whether milk changes how much mucus we really produce, drinking it can make the feeling of thicker mucus, so if that pesters you, it cant hurt to dodge milk while you are sick.

Liquor debilitates your immunity and leads to water loss in the body. Both of these can make your colds more hopeless and abandon you with a surprisingly more terrible morning. Grandmothers hot hard stuff may clear things up for a brief time-frame, yet relax and dont try too hard. On the off chance that you acquire a cold, avoid most kinds liquor to keep your body ideally hydrated and your immune system working on a high. Definitely not the answer to what to eat when vomiting.

On the off chance that you love drinking juices and make your own 100% juices—definitely, drink them! However, in the event that you go after your regular squeezed orange when you get a cold, youd be in an ideal situation without it. Normal juices are stacked with additional sugar and that sugar can decrease the capacity of white blood cells to battle sickness. Any advantages you may get from the vitamin C are invalidated by the sugar present in it.

What ought to likewise be called attention to from keeping away from juices is: dodge away the sugar.

Astound, astonish – it ought to be most evident to avoid fast food and processed foods during time of sickness. Fast food and majority processed foods are bereft of nutrition; that is, they convey barely anything to the table as far as boosting the immunity or boosting your wellbeing is concerned. Not just are quite a bit of these nourishments produced using genetically altered sustenances, yet they additionally contain a huge number of immune smothering fixings, e.g. high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, MSG, man-made colours, FD&C Red #40, dimethylpolysiloxane, and substantially more. Also, notwithstanding some reckless hospitals serving up McDonalds to their sick patients, that doesnt mean these nourishments are any more important.

CRB Tech reviews would recommend that you stay away from these foodstuffs to recover faster from illness. On what to eat while sick, you can search foods to eat when nauseous, foods to eat when you have a fever etc.
