Flora A postcard design before the trip
Flora A postcard design before the trip
Photoshop. May need to refine this a little more.
Twelve years. Been planning a trip back to the Philippines since forever. One thing I learned from the last few years of doing books, Japan jaunts, Sketchcrawls, galleries and con appearances it this: Planning doesnt work. You just do it. Variables and obstacles will show up, plan or no plan.
But this one has been hitting a lucky streak. Different. Classmates from way back have been very helpful in organizing meetings and talks. Tess uncle, Ted, just hustled and got a talk schedule into place. Going back to the old college, UST College of Fine Arts, and a few other schools. Im preparing a Keynote file to do a rant. Even got a Macbook for the trip. Sweet. Its like butter.
Tired and frantic, because theres other things in life that will ask for attention. But inspite of that I did get to most of my checklists (theres a few more to do, but hey...). Now, watch me forget my passport or something moronic.
Thanks to all back home whove been so instrumental in getting this together. And Ill be seeing you all in less than two weeks. Meanwhile I gotta refine my presentation. Wait, my throats all scratchy, and Im achy all over. Sigh.
Figures.

First trip to the ER
First trip to the ER
Well, it turns out my last post was posted too soon! That very same day, guess whos fever shot up again.
Guess whos headache was so bad that he cried out in pain at the sunshine.
And guess whos neck was so stiff that he couldnt move it AT ALL.
Mommy called the doctor and the doctor said... "bring him into the ER right now. Were going to have to do a spinal tap to test for meningitis."
So thats what this mommy did. I called some people, packed some bags, and put my hotter-than-hot, sicker-than-sick boy into the car and drove to the ER.
Guess who wasnt sick at all 2 hours later, when the doctor came into the room?
Thats right, I said, "wasnt sick at all." No fever, no headache, no sore throat, no stiff neck.
"I promise," I told the doctor, "he was REALLY sick before we got here..." She said its happened before.
I think God answered some prayers and healed this sick boy, because the doctor checked him over, kept him a little white for observation, and decided that no spinal tap would be needed! In fact, the only pain Kade had to go through was a tiny finger prick to test for mono- negative, of course!
Somebodys watchin over this kid!

Field Trip Chaperones Decision Tomorrow!
Field Trip Chaperones Decision Tomorrow!
All the forms for interested parents wanting to help chaperone our field trip at the end of the month were due today! All I can say is "Wow!". Thank you so much for the support as there are 12 parents who would like to help out that day! Super!
Sadly, we can only take 4 of you (possibly 5). So to keep it fair, I will be putting all names of parents interested in going in a hat tomorrow and drawing the lucky 4-5. That seems to be the best way to approach making the decision. We have had to do this in the past. I wish I could take everyone along but that just wont be allowed!
Thanks to all who volunteered! Information will be sent home tomorrow on the names that were drawn to go along.
